Sky Showcase (Irish feed) Continuity & Advert Breaks - Tuesday 14th February 2023
So as referenced in the previous videos, here is the Sky Showcase continuity recorded during Futurama's greatest ever episode of all time, which is Jurassic Bark. I also recorded other stuff as well and let the recording continue on until the stream stopped, so here you go.
Unfortunately, despite that episode of Futurama, not everything was alright with this continuity video and there were two main problems that prevents this from being "the perfect" Sky Showcase continuity video that I could ever dream for. The first issue came with the continuity announcement that came beforehand, which was for NCIS: New Orleans, which the announcer said was on Sky Showcase at that moment. That's the wrong show!
The other problem with this continuity video...was with the episode of The Simpsons that aired straight afterwards at 5pm (which is Homer vs Patty and Selma). This is an episode that I absolutely, very strongly HATED, and it's for the same kind of reasons as the episode Home Away from Homer (see • Channel 4 Continuity & Advert Breaks ... for more info). Similar to Home Away from Homer, this is yet another episode of The Simpsons where there's just so much cruelty towards Bart. The way Bart was forced into doing ballet, the way he got attacked after revealing himself as the masked dancer, the way Lisa failed to get him any medical attention, IT'S ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I've said this before and I'll say it again: it's usually Bart that gets picked on (for this sort of cruelty) all the time and it genuinely pisses me off.
In some ways, it's similar to what ITV2 did on 22nd November 2022, where they aired two great episodes of Bob's Burgers followed by two awful episodes of Family Guy. Sky Showcase aired a really great episode of Futurama, followed by a really awful episode of The Simpsons. I hope the next time Sky Showcase airs this episode of Futurama (whenever that happens to be) that they be more considerate about choosing what episode of The Simpsons will air afterwards, as this scheduling as it stands is disgusting.
