What are ETFs?
Exchange Traded Funds are a type of investment that allow you to invest into multiple stocks or bonds all within one purchase. ETFs are known to be more tax efficient than Index Based Mutual Funds as you have more control.
Index Funds vs Mutual Funds vs ETFs:    • Mutual Funds vs Index Funds vs ETFs |...

Total Stock Market Fund (VTI):
This fund seeks to track the performance of the CRSP US Total Market Index that consists of small, mid, and large cap stocks.

Total International Fund (VXUS):
This fund seeks to track the performance of the FTSE Global All Cap ex US index, which measures the performance of stocks issued by companies located outside the US.

Total Bond Market (BND):
This fund seeks to track the performance of a broad, market weighted bond index that will generally provide investments like Treasuries and Mortgage Backed Securities to name a few.

3 Fund Portfolio:
Building a 3 fund portfolio is extremely easy and allows you to control your own allocation. As shown in the video an example could be:
65% Domestic stocks (VTI)
15% International stocks (VXUS)
20% Domestic bonds (BND)
By using this portfolio, from 2012 to 2023 you would have achieved a 9.55% compound annual growth rate (CAGR)

Although it entirely depends on your risk tolerance, I put more weight toward domestic and international stocks than bonds.
