How does the UK theatre sector face issues of diversity and inclusion? What measures has it implemented as the urgency for sustainability rises within the performing arts sector? At what point are communities involved in these processes and in what ways? Based on these questions, the British Council in Spain and La Red Española de Teatros
@CanalRedescena have joined forces to create Open Theatres, a new webinar series focused on good practices in the UK on the topics of sustainability, inclusion and community building within the performing arts sector.
In this session, we hosted Devinda De Silva, founding member of National Theatre Wales and current Co-Chair for the development of a new Culture Strategy for Wales for the Welsh Government, and Rachel Bagshaw, Artistic Director at Unicorn Theatre. The discussion was moderated by Marta Monfort, Vice-president of the Board of Directors at La Red.

Open Theatres 2024 - Webinar #1: Diversidad e inclusión en los teatros del Reino Unido
¿Cómo afronta los retos de diversidad e inclusión el sector teatral británico? ¿Qué medidas ha implementado de cara a la urgencia de la sostenibilidad dentro del mundo del espectáculo? ¿En qué momento está el sector comunitario involucrado en estos procesos y de qué manera? Partiendo de todas estas cuestiones, el British Council en España y La Red Española de Teatros @CanalRedescena han aunado fuerzas para crear Open Theatres, una nueva serie de seminarios web sobre buenas prácticas en el Reino Unido en torno a la sostenibilidad, la inclusión y la creación de comunidades en las artes escénicas.
En esta sesión, invitamos a Devinda De Silva, miembro fundador de National Theatre Wales y actual codirector el desarrollo de una nueva estrategia cultural para Gales por encargo del Gobierno galé, y a Rachel Bagshaw, directora artística del Unicorn Theatre. La charla fue moderada por Marta Monfort, vicepresidenta de la Junta Directiva de La Red.
