Yume Nikki "Requiem" Ending Theme - Acoustic/Clean Guitar Piano Cover Version
One of the most simplistic yet effective ending themes ever written, and here is my take on it. (:

Now for my personal take on Yume Nikki in the form of an unruly slab of text.
Yume Nikki as a game is pretty terrible let's be honest; However as a passionate and extremely personal piece of work thriving with symbolism as its main drive for story telling, Yume Nikki is nothing short of a masterpiece. The incredible abundance of theories and possible stories behind the main protagonist Madotsuki really threw me deep into the whole universe of the game. My head-cannon for it is probably the most common one. I believe that Madotsuki was r*ped at some point, had a sister or friend die in a traffic accident that Madotsuki unfortunately witnessed, was most likely oppressed by peers, teachers and family alike, had a friend that she had regrettably betrayed or taken advantage of despite her nature, is terribly lonely, has probably been abandoned to live alone at some point or is simply heavily neglected, and is extremely afraid of the world outside her room to the extent that it could probably be labelled as a form of mental issue. The reasons behind my head-cannon? Way too much to explain here, but all of my reasoning is basically the same as what's written on various forums on the internet and the wiki itself.
This is probably going to be the only cover of a Yumi Nikki piece I'll ever do, for obvious reasons. I'd cover the diary/save theme but that already has an incredibly wonderful arrangement on piano and violin which I'll never be able to top right here: • Video
