Lionel #Messi and his #Argentina teammates sealed a third World Cup win — and first since 1986 — for the South American side, shattering France’s dreams of back-to-back triumphs.
Argentina won the penalty shootout after one of the greatest World Cup finals of all time ended in a 3-3 draw. Mbappé and Messi took their teams’ first penalties and scored. Kingsley Coman had an attempt saved by Argentina goalkeeper Emi Martinez and Aurelien Tchouameni then missed for France, giving Gonzalo Montiel the opportunity to end it. He converted the penalty to the left and sparked wild celebrations.
