Cyberpunk's Lifepaths Are A Disappointment

Cyberpunk 2077 released on Playstation, Xbox and PC to a wave of controversy due to it being what many felt was something of an unfinished game.

But beyond the bugs, glitches and AI issues, what I was personally most disappointed about was the different lifepaths, nomad, street kid and corpo, which opened the game. What could have been three distinctly unique paths in terms of gameplay, supported by great storytelling catered to each throughout the rest of the game, are instead little more than glorified opening sequences, disconnected from a main game which rarely takes into accounts players' first and perhaps most important choice.

In this video, I take a closer look at why they're such a let down both story and gameplay-wise, the design choices made by CD Project Red and the little improvements that could have been made to improve their overall effectiveness beyond the game's opening minutes.
