Stephen Hunter, who played Bombur, committed to his role by eating a large number of boiled eggs during filming. He insisted on eating the eggs for real rather than spitting them out between takes, leading to him consuming around a dozen eggs in one go. Despite the challenge, he maintained a good attitude and even ate eggs for breakfast a couple of days later.
