The Best New Artist Curse refers to the misfortune that seems to befall a lot of artists who take home a Grammy in that category. One would think winning the Best New Artist Award would set the artists on the trajectory for a long, successful career, but that's not always the case. Often, it's the opposite, with several of these winners fading into oblivion, or their careers being derailed after some personal tragedy. Some of the affected include Lauryn Hill, Milli Vanilli, Amy Winehouse, and Norah Jones. To determine if the Best New Artist Curse exists, I'm going to take a took at the winners from the past decade (Fun., Macklemore, Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor, Chance the Rapper, Alessia Cara, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, and Olivia Rodrigo). And to be fair, there are several Best New Artist Careers who went on to have massively successful careers like Adele, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Natalie Cole, and Maroon 5. But, let me know what you think- Do you believe such a curse exists?
