In this video, Dan from http://www.plantabundance.com takes you along for a harvest of what he calls 'Natures Jelly Doughnut' The common fig.
There are 3 varieties that I'm going to be harvesting today. 'Brown Turkey' , 'Black Jack', and 'Peters Honey'. Known by it's botanical name 'Ficus carica', the fig tree is a deciduous tree that can get very tall upwards of 30 feet. So if you don't want a big beautiful shade tree in your yard you might want to consider pruning it back. Fig trees require full sun to ensure fully ripened fruit. If you pick them when they're still immature they will not continue to ripen. You can tell they're ripe when they're slightly soft and the stem has a little bend in it.
Alright guys that's it for now. I hope your having a great day out there in the world planting abundance in your life. I'll be talking to you again soon, take care.
