320th Barrage Balloon Battalion on D-Day
On D-Day, June 6, 1944, the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion was the only African-American unit to come ashore at Omaha and Utah beaches in Normandy. Their mission was to deploy barrage balloons as the assault force landed on D-Day and the days that followed.
