Socks are such a thing that is needed at any time of the year. In winter they keep you warm, and in summer they protect your feet from rubbing calluses.
You can not only buy socks, but also knit and sew them. Moreover, purchased socks do not last long, holes in the heels and toes are inevitable and this does not depend on their price: sometimes one pair is enough for one time.
I want to share a simple model of socks that can be sewn in half an hour.
I got the idea from a gift. For my birthday, a friend gave me foot cream and it came with thin knitted socks so that the cream would be better absorbed.
When I put them on, I really liked them - comfortable, they don’t slip off my feet. They are good because they do not tighten the ankle, and for swollen legs this is what you need.
Upon closer inspection, nothing complicated, I made a pattern according to my size. The measurement 25 cm is the length of the foot, insert your number and make your own socks. The same goes for children.
First, draw a line for the length of the foot, then up 11 cm and to the right 12–13 cm. Next, you need to draw an arbitrary smooth line to close the pattern.
It is necessary to cut so that the knitwear stretches well in length. The most affordable material for this product is T-shirts; if they get worn out, you don’t mind throwing them away.
The advantage of the model is that there is no seam on the sole.
1) I cut my socks without seam allowances exactly according to the pattern, but you can make them for a loose fit. Along the 25 cm line is the fold of the fabric.
2) I will sew socks on a sewing machine. First, I stitched the back seam and sewed the edges with a zigzag.
3) Then I unfolded the workpiece, turned the top part 1 cm and stitched it with a zigzag.
4) Now I stitched the front part and the edge of the basting.
5) Where the heel and toe are, I folded the fabric perpendicular to the seams and made 3 cm stitches. I cut off the excess fabric and sewed it over.
Ready.
The socks are ready, you can sew them in packs for the whole family.
