If your website isn't getting the traffic you deserve then theres a few things that could be going wrong. The first thing i'll mention is that you need to check your technical SEO, check google search console and analytics and see if there's anything going wrong.
Once you've done that there's a few things that could potentially be happening, and I cover these things with a few real examples of past and current SEO clients - let's dive in.
#1 Understanding the content life cycle
A lot of people publish content once and forget about it, in the video I show you guys the 4 different stages of the content that I had to go through to finally get a page to rank decently. We first started out by publishing an MVP of the page with about 300-400 words. After plugging it into SurferSEO and seeing that I needed more words, I then updated that piece of content with about 800 words and told google to check it again.
There was definitely a noticeable bump in traffic and search impressions after that, but things weren't improving as they should've been. I then realized that this page didn't actually have any relevant internal links, so I then proceeded to add a few relevant internal links, nothing too forced.
After another slight bump in organic impressions, and seeing that google was liking the changes we were making to our SEO, I then decided to step it up a notch by going after a juicy backlink. The backlink I ended up getting was a DR 65 and that looked like it was a real gamechanger. The page shot up 25 positions in rankings, the impressions also skyrocketed and we got a nice click as a reward. Lot's more clicks coming to this page very soon.
#2 Are we actually helping google?
Everything we do in the world of SEO is an attempt for Google to see that our website is valuable and that they should show our website to more people by ranking our website better. Technical SEO errors aside, theres always things that can go wrong. In the video I cover another example of an ex client of mine and the specific issue we had with their ecommerce website.
Definitely recommend watching the video to see how we fixed the example. The lesson here is probably understanding the keyword and the traffic that you're getting it might be something that you're doing that is preventing you from getting the organic traffic you deserve.
#3 Consistency + Topical Authority = SEO Success
For this tip I also show you guys another real client of mine and the recent success of a new blog that was launched a few months ago. The success is just getting a few clicks and starting to see early results. But thats the main thing here we need to stay consistent and can't demotivated if we aren't getting the traffic we'd expect after 10 blog posts over a couple of months. SEO is a very long term play and we need to keep investing in high quality content that our audience likes and shares.
I do also add a bonus tip at the end of the video for those of you that stick to the end!
