Over 4000 convenience stores across Ontario have been granted licences according to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission.
Convenience stores are excited about this expansion not only as a way to grow their business but also to provide more options to customers.

There are strict rules and severe penalties set in place by the AGCO.
Selling to minors could lead to a $100,000 fine or suspension of a license and selling to someone intoxicated could see a fine of up to $50,000 and license suspension.
Anyone who sells alcohol must be at least 18 years old and have valid certification like being smart serve certified.
You may also notice a difference in price as well compared to the Beer Store or LCBO. Stores can set their own prices but it can't be lower than the minimum price in the regulations.
