The results of the semi finals of the Eurovision Song Contest are not taken into account when the organisation decides the stunning order for the grand final. The Head of Contest of Eurovision 2021 confirmed this to ESCDaily.
When the running order for the grand final is out, many Eurovision fanatics wonder: Does this give anything away from the results of the two semi finals? We asked that question to the man responsible for the running order: Head of Contest Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen.
Songwise, the organisation would have liked another running order. But because of complex staging and switching between props, this was not doable within 40 seconds of time in the postcard. Still, Van de Nieuwenhuijzen thinks they came up with a good running order. "Opening with an act as strong as Cyprus, which has everything you want in Eurovision, and closing with San Marino, it will be a spectaculair show.
