Did you catch this in Top Gun: Maverick? This summer's biggest film, is a follow-up to Tony Scott's 1986 classic Top Gun, with Tom Cruise, reprising his legendary role as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell preparing a new stream of Navy pilots for a risky mission. The sequel, which was created and co-authored by Christopher McQuarrie of Mission: Impossible and Joseph Kosinski of Oblivion, has a ton of Easter eggs and references to the first film, most notably a beach football game. There have been many references to the original Top Gun: Maverick made in the months after the film's debut, but one small Easter egg has gone completely unnoticed until recently The audio of Slider's ecstatic yell from the volleyball scene was sampled for Hangman in the sequel's recreation of the beach football sequence.
