In 1969, Pontiac showed up with a GTO-derived “Judge” package which was inspired by Rowan and Martin’s avant-garde comedy TV show, ‘Laugh-In. The new Judge package would feature wild stripes and spoilers plus ‘The Judge’ graphics. Matching the new attitude of the Judge, was the availability of two potent engine packages offered by Pontiac that year. Pontiac engines in the GTO line displaced 400 cubes, and the new Ram Air III and Ram Air VI made use of the functional hood scoops.
