There will come a time when you need to backup your Cisco IOS. This video will show you how to backup your IOS to a TFTP server. The process can also be applied to an FTP server with a few small changes.
Download and install a TFTP server
The first step is to download and install your TFTP Server. In this video, we are using TFTPD32. You can download this for free using the below link.
http://tftpd32.jounin.net/tftpd32_dow...
Set up the TFTP server
You will need to setup a folder to use as your TFTP root. In this video, we created a folder on the desktop.
You will also need to select an interface to use.
Find the name of the Cisco IOS image
Next you need to find out the name of you Cisco IOS file by using the below command.
show flash
Copy the IOS file
Now copy the IOS file by using the below commands.
copy tftp flash
Insert TFTP server IP address
Insert IOS file name
Enter to use the same name or type a new name
Now your image will start to copy across to the folder you set as your TFTP root. This may take several minutes.
We hope this helped.
