Join Ryan Chacon, Co-Creator & Head of Business Development at IoT For All, for an interesting IoT chat with Anders Buchmann, CCO at Onomondo.

Ryan has hosted over 130 podcasts since co-creating IoT For All in 2016 and created a top-ranking IoT website. As a result, he has tonnes of knowledge about what is happening in IoT. Today, he shares some of that knowledge in Zooming in on IoT.

01:40 Introduction of Ryan Chacon and IoT For All.

05:50 Defining IoT - IoT is a crucial element of Digital Transformation.

08:37 Marketing IoT - There's a shift from technical content to more use case and targeted content. The marketing of IoT products is maturing, and companies are refining their approach to cut through the noise.

13:30 Where is IoT heading?
1) Demand is increasing, and costs are coming down - key to adoption increases.
2) Many people are overwhelmed by connectivity options, but more options mean more opportunities to find the perfect fit.
3) There's a shift from Cloud to Edge computing.
4) There's going to be a lot of consolidation across the industry.

17:10 Find out more info on the connectivity space by going to IoT For All and searching e.g. "connectivity", "nb-iot", "5G" etc to find expert content on those topics. An excellent podcast on connectivity is by Rob Tiffany from Ericsson https://www.iotforall.com/podcasts/e0....

20:00 What are some current IoT trends?
1) Partnerships being key to success; not everyone "has the deals", and it's hard to get genuine inbound leads as people search for very specific topics.
2) Low-cost connectivity and sensors. Massive IoT (NB-IoT/Cat-M) connected devices will grow. Cellular (traditional/low power) will overtake proprietary technologies.
3) Low code/no code and importance of system integrators. Here's a relevant podcast https://www.iotforall.com/podcasts/e1...
4) Emphasis on the data interpretation. IoT is powerful because it can bring in data. But, the person interacting with the user interface (the end-user) needs valuable data presented in a usable way.
5) Some industries/use cases are seeing more growth than others. Asset tracking is a use case that is very popular right now. Manufacturing and Industrial industries will lead the way with transportation/mobility right behind. We are seeing energy and retail use cases increase with healthcare following up.
