Ali Begen of Özyeğin University (and consultant to NBCUniversal) describes Adaptive Streaming of Content-Aware-Encoded Videos in dash.js
Video quality can be improved by adaptive encoding for OTT applications, but the challenge of streaming these signals to consumer players remains. In this presentation, Dr. Begen describes research that is going on in the context of the popular dash.js player to improve video quality and overall player performance with video signals that have dynamically changing video content. By making the encoder aware of content complexity, the available bandwidth can be more efficiently within the stream to improve delivered video quality.
