Microsoft Azure provides a reliable cloud computing platform for agile and scalable building, testing and deployment of modern apps. While Microsoft assumes responsibility for the infrastructure, their Shared Responsibility Model makes it clear that it is still your data and you retain the responsibility to secure and protect it.

Veeam provides enterprise-ready Azure backup and recovery capabilities, fully automated for protecting and managing all your Azure data at scale with ease. Cost-effectiveness and security are front of mind without sacrificing reliability or SLA attainment, eliminating the risk of data loss while avoiding cloud overspend and unexpected costs.

This video is a quick guide that walks you through all the required steps to configure Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and to create your first backup policy.

To configure integration of Veeam Backup & Replication with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure, complete the following steps:
Install or upgrade Veeam Backup & Replication up to version 11 (build 11.0.0.837). Microsoft Azure Plug-in for Veeam Backup & Replication will be automatically installed along with Veeam Backup & Replication.

Add a Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance.
You have two options for adding a Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance:

If you have already installed Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure, you can connect an existing Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure.
If you have not installed Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure, you can deploy a new Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance from the Veeam Backup & Replication console. In this case, Veeam Backup & Replication deploys Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure on an Azure VM automatically.
For a newly added Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance: Configure worker instances.
After you add a new Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance, open its Web UI component and configure network settings for worker instances.

Add Azure Blob storage.
Adding Azure Blob storage may be optional or required:

If you connect to an existing Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance, you can omit adding Blob storage since all configured Blob storage is added to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure automatically. However, you can add Blob storage if required.
If you deploy a new Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance, you may require to add Blob storage — but only in case you want backup policies to produce image-level backups.
