In order to completely protect the internal organs, the four primary abdominal muscle groups must work together. Transversus Abdominis is the inner muscle layer. Rectus Abdominis is located at the front of the pelvis between the pubic bone and the ribs. The External Obliques are on each side of the rectus abdominis.
