I used the original "GEN1" 3/8" Milwaukee Stubby Impact for a few years and it was wonderful! With 250ft-lbs of nut busting torque, it was able to break free nuts and bolts from just about every single rusty, crusty, classic car restoration situation. That said, it did get stumped a few times when that wasn't enough power when going against old seize subframes and come suspension/steering related parts. With the new "GEN2" Stubby, power isn't a concern with this one featuring more than double the original Stubby's torque at 550ft-lbs!!!
Other notable improvements to this new version of the Stubby are the lighting and the mode-selection process. More light now! And also much easier to change modes one-handed.
Size comparison: nearly identical.
If you're on a budget, watch for online and in-store clearance sales and great bundle deals on the original Milwaukee Stubby's as they make room for the new GEN2 Stubby on shelves.
