400 women die from domestic abuse in Kazakhstan every year.
In the first eight months of 2020, law enforcement agencies registered around 130,000 cases of domestic abuse. These resulted in initiation of 2,500 criminal and 30,000 administrative cases (data sources: UN and Vlast).
The numbers are staggering and it’s obvious that there should be zero tolerance towards domestic abuse.
This film is about what happens in families where men abuse their wives and children. Domestic abuse happens regardless of age, social standing and economic status. And we talk about this a lot in our film. But on top of that, we discuss topics that relate to rapist and victim mentality. We try to find answers to these questions and many others.
Please watch “The Wife”. And let’s all agree that using force against women and children isn’t just a sign of weakness, it’s a crime.
