How to expose for backlit photographs

Learn how to use your SLR camera to properly expose for a subject when they are backlit (light source is coming from behind them). Use your camera's in-built light meter to come in close to your subject and take a metering reading off their "skin". Set your ISO, shutter speed and aperture to read in the middle of the meter when you are nice and close to them. Go back, re-frame your image and take the shot.
