This was the moment all Manchester United fans had been waiting for: the return of the King, Eric Cantona.
Over 55,000 supporters packed into Old Trafford to see the Eric Cantona European XI take on the Red Devils with all proceeds going to the Munich Memorial Fund. Former United greats including Bryan Robson and Mark Hughes lined up alongside Jean-Pierre Papin and Paul Gascogne to face United's new generation. Cantona showed flashes of the Gallic flair that made y him a world star, and scored a typically extravagant goal in what turned out to be an extraordinary night for the players and supporters alike. It was a glorious
comeback and an emotional farewell to a player that gave so much to United.
