Hon’ble Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw witnessed Kavach’s Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) Test

Kavach, an indigenously designed Automatic Train Protection system is specifically developed keeping the protection and safety of trains in mind. Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) test demonstrated how KAVACH restricted locomotives to cross red signals. Kavach technology consists of a set of electronic devices and installation of radio frequency identification devices that sends out alerts when a driver jumps the signal. When a driver accidentally jumps the signal, the speed of the train is reduced drastically followed by the automatic application of brakes by the autopilot. The Kavach trial was an overall success and marked a major milestone for Indian Railways.
