Microsoft is considering rebuilding it's Edge browser. This time based on Chromium, from the open-source project. With its new Chromium-powered browser, Microsoft is re-entering the best browser debate to compete against the likes of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi, Brave, etc. The new Edge Chromium browser comes with a lot of feature updates. It resembles more like Google Chrome with the Google services turned off. Currently, the browser is available for download through 3 different channels, Beta channel (yet to be released), Dev channel, and Canary channel. For this review, I have used the Dev version which is the same as the other two, with the only difference between these versions being the update frequency and hence the stability. One of the major benefits of the Edge users as a result of the utilization of the Chromium open-source project is the Chrome web store. Yes you can now add extensions from the Microsoft web store and the Chrome web store as well. In the preview build, not all features are completely available right now. You can enable or disable certain features from the flags menu but those are still under development and are expected to be integrated in the browser fully in the later builds. The latest builds are designed to support only 64-bit Windows 10, and Microsoft is planning to support Windows 8, Windows 7, and macOS in the future. Edge is also available for Android and iOS as well.

Update: Microsoft has revealed the release date for the new Microsoft Edge browser. It is going to be released officially on January 15th, 2020, backed by a new Microsoft Edge logo to avoid confusion with Internet Explorer.
