What is Smegma?
Sometimes you might find a whitish buildup in the folds of the skin of your genitals- this can happen to people of all genders — it tends to accumulate under the foreskin or in the folds of the labia — and it’s basically a build up of oil, bacteria and dead skin cells. This is called smegma.
Gently washing your external genitals — especially underneath the foreskin and in between the folds of the vulva and generally maintaining good personal hygeine is usually all you need to do to prevent it.
Be gentle with your genitals when you wash them — dont scrub or push skin back harshly. and for people with vulvas, remember You DONT need to wash inside the vaginal canal— that’s an internal part of the body and even excess water can disturb it’s natural ecosystem . You just need to wash the EXTERNAL region- the vulva ✨
