CINE Conference 2021: "On the use of machine learning in materials science and beyond", by Dr. Osvaldo de Oliveira Jr, USP
In this lecture I will provide an overview of the growing use of machine learning methods in materials science, including for the energy sector. Machine learning has been mostly used to process the huge amounts of data generated with modern equipment in materials characterization and in applications such as in sensing and biosensing. Examples will also be given of integrated approaches to employ machine learning with data of varied natures, including images, text, and scientific data. These approaches are relevant not only to develop fully (or semi-) automated systems but also to achieve efficient knowledge discovery tools.
