An Hour Before It's Dark was released in March 2022 to critical and commercial acclaim. The album reached number 2 in the UK chart, the band's best placing since Clutching At Straws in 1997. Written during the COVID pandemic, the lyrical content is a reaction to those tumultuous times despite lead singer Steve Hogarth originally stating that he would try not to be influenced by the heartbreak and loss being suffered by so many across the world.

The original album was produced by Michael Hunter and recorded at the band's Racket Club Studios in Buckinghamshire and Real World Studios near Bath, England
