The film tells about the unique dog sledding race "Beringia", which has been held in Kamchatka for 25 years. Who are these people who participate in the exhausting 1000-kilometer marathon in the conditions of the Far North? What makes them overcome themselves and the forces of nature - love of extreme or selfish interest?

In 1991, "Beringia" was registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest in the world. In the race takes part 15 kayurs, in each team from 5 to 14 dogs. Over three weeks, participants must overcome more than 1,000 km along the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula from the village of Esso to the village of Osora.

The protagonist of the film is the youngest participant of the race Vitaly Tishkin, an 18-year-old qayur from the village of Esso. Vitali is the debutante of the "Beringia", this will be his first race, which he intends to pass as a kayur. Vitaly's goal is to win the first prize - seven million rubles! In the case of winning money, he should be enough to create his own dog nursery. Authors of the film tell how Vitaly prepares for the race, how he selects and trains the dogs, how he receives the last instructions from his grandfather, also the cue, goes with him the whole track and meets him at the finish.

Brave men, despite the difficulties of the route and the test of elements, embark on a dangerous path. "Beringia" does not limit the age of the participants, on the route goers from 18 to 65 years. Women compete on a par with men. For each of the 15 participants, "Beringia" has something of its own. For someone - the preservation of traditions, for someone - a sporting struggle, for someone - a test of yourself for strength, and for someone - a chance to win money.

In addition to competing, on "Beringia" work veterinarians, doctors, technicians, rescuers, as well as dozens of volunteers. At the finish, after almost a month's separation, they are met by relatives, friends and fans. Who will be the winner?

From the place of the finish of the caudes with their harnesses and sledges on planes and helicopters, they deliver someone to Esso, someone to their remote villages, where everyone returns to their usual life.
