That the show was so realistic that a real-life SWAT team was called to set? Before The Walking Dead became a television sensation, the production team would have to think up practical and low-budget ways of giving the illusion of a post-apocalyptic world. One of the standout scenes in the Frank Darabont helmed the first season of the show saw the character Merle shooting from a rooftop as the survivors ran for cover from the hordes of the undead. Merle’s behavior was concerning for his fellow characters but also it appears for the residents of the building the show was filming on, who called the police believing a real-life gunman was on the roof. To everyone’s relief, no one was arrested and filming was allowed to continue.
