I find that processing solid breaks and drum one-shots in my DAW is the best way to get quality material for my hardware samplers. I am drawn to the sound-design possibilities, as well as the efficient workflow, and this helps me get the most out of my hardware, particularly when writing movements for live performances.
In this first video, I prepare and create over 100 different breakbeats in Live, using my brand-new Phoenix Collection (link: ). Right after this first premier, I will premier the next video, where I load the breaks into the Korg ESX-1 and start creating music.
