What is a Preposition?
Preposition is a word that is used to link noun or pronoun with other words in the sentence.
Link means they provide relationship between noun and other words in the sentence and thus makes the sentence complete.
These other words may be noun,verb or adjective.

Lets understand it with an example.
This cat is running and now where is it sitting?
The cat is sitting under the table. Here, under is used to link table which is a noun and sitting placement of cat.
And hence under is a preposition here.

Depending on the usage in sentence, Preposition are divided into three types :
1. Preposition of TIme.
2. Preposition of Place
3. Preposition of Direction

Preposition that describes when an event occured are Preposition of TIme.

Preposition that describes where an event or thing is are Preposition of Place. And

Preposition that describes in which direction an event or thing is are Preposition of Direction.

Prepositional phrase :
Group of words containing preposition are called prepositional phrase.
