Dismounting a ceiling mounted WAPs can be tricky if you don't know the secret steps. I think some of this design is done on purpose to prevent theft or tampering.
The actual back plane the AP mounts to is a MA-MNT-MR-11. The mounting bracket for the MR44 is a MA-MNT-MR-15, but the steps are pretty similar.
