Role: Desktop Support Engineer

Responsibilities:

Provide technical support to end-users, both remotely and in-person, by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software applications, and peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and routers.
Respond to user inquiries and service requests in a timely manner, ensuring effective communication and excellent customer service.
Collaborate with other IT teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues that cannot be resolved at the desktop support level.
Create and maintain documentation, including user guides and knowledge base articles, to assist users in troubleshooting common problems and improve self-service capabilities.
Conduct regular system maintenance activities, including software updates, patches, and system backups.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with organizational policies and security standards.
Assist in the procurement and inventory management of IT equipment and software licenses.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to provide recommendations for improving the organization's IT infrastructure and support services.
Conduct user training sessions and workshops to enhance their technical skills and promote efficient system usage.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Desktop Support Engineer or in a similar technical support role.
Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Mac operating systems, as well as common software applications and hardware components.
Familiarity with network protocols, TCP/IP, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software problems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with end-users of varying technical backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.
Knowledge of IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL, and experience with ticketing systems is a plus.
Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or similar, are desirable.
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred but not always required, depending on the level of experience.
