NINETY EIGHT (98)
/ ДЕВЯНОСТО ВОСЕМЬ
/ DEVYANOSTA VOSYEM`
(ENG / RUS in Cyrillic / RUS Transliterated in Latin)
Numbers in Russian from 20 to 99. The logical composition of a number (tens + units). Transliteration from Cyrillic to Latin. Correct Russian pronunciation from a native speaker.
In Russian, as in English, if a number is in the range from 21 to 99 and does not end in zero (not 20, 30, 40, etc.), then number is written and pronounced as two separate words, that is:
number of tens + units.
For example:
21 - Twenty-One (ДВАДЦАТЬ-ОДИН / DVATSAT`-ADIN)
32 - Thirty-Two (ТРИДЦАТЬ-ДВА / TRITSAT`-DVA)
56 - Fifty-Six (ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ-ШЕСТЬ / PET`DESYAT-SHEST`)
etc
Pay attention to the rules of correct pronunciation. Transliteration is given for the classical Latin alphabet and does not match with the rules of orthography and pronunciation of English.
Besides, often in Russian, as in many other languages, words are pronounced differently than they are spelled. Dashes below indicate stress (accent) a certain syllable in a word. Our transliterated text does not always match the correct spelling, but it always matches the correct pronunciation!
