BOOK STOREY. HISTORY OF THE CITY’S FIRST LIBRARY
How did a love story lead to the founding of the library on Fontanka Embankment? What can be seen through the telescope from the Okhta-8 dept.? Is the library haunted? All this and more, in the new episode of the “St. Petersburg’s Storeys. City is Growing Up” project.
Journalist Andrey Smirnov will introduce you to two dept. heads and to the cat librarians, Frosya and Musya.
You’ll learn about the fun activities on offer at the Mayakovsky Library: you can get in touch with history by flipping through rare books, read contemporary fiction, listen to music, and even play a passage from the opera Sadko on a synthesizer using old sheet music.
Enjoy!
