Welcome to Initial Unity, a Fan Made Initial D Touge Racing Arcade game.
This game is targeted at gamers who grew up with all sorts of driving games, with inspiration from games like Forza, Gran Turismo, old NFS games and of course, Initial D. However, we have decided to go for a more simulation approach, as an Initial D game like that does not exist. Most car systems are simulated, albeit with grossly simplified models. Examples of such systems are twin turbos (spooling separately), limited-slip differentials, ATTESA (GTR), anti-lag, anti-roll bars and much more. A unique game mode, "Cat and Mouse", is also made for multiplayer, where a driver has to keep up or overtake the driver in front.
The developer has just announced the full steam version that is set to release in April 2022 called Touge Shakai, which has just launched it's kickstarter campaign.
Touge Shakai (Mountain Pass Society), or TougeS for short, is an online Touge Racing Game based on Japanese car culture in the 90s. With an emphasis on balance between realism and fun gameplay, the physics are tailored for competitive drift racing, while giving a challenge to all players. The game is built upon our fan-made creation Initial Unity.
In Touge Shakai, the driving physics are mainly simulated, but not to the extent of hardcore racing simulators. The driving characteristics of each car is tailored to be distinctly different from the others, to prevent the feeling that each car feels the same, just with different performance numbers. The objective of the physics is to be fun while remaining believable. However, there's a twist to the driving physics: Drifting is faster than grip driving for most rear-wheel drive vehicles.
