PowerPoint's greatest strength is how it can be finely tuned to match a scripted presentation, such as an opening statement. But there's times where you need the functionality of powerpoint but with a little extra flexibility. Fortunately, there's two ways to make PowerPoint a bit more agile: (1) use slide sorter view or (2) punch in the slide number you want to get to that slide directly.
