How to restore SharePoint content with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint
Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint allows you to restore and export Microsoft SharePoint objects from backups created in Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365. In order to perform SharePoint restore, consider the following: To use an internet proxy server to restore backups created in Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365, make sure to provide appropriate proxy server address and the port number. For that, go to the Control Panel - Internet Options Connections tab, click LAN Settings, select the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box and specify a proxy server you want to use. Credentials for such a proxy (if needed) will be taken from the Control Panel - Credential Manager - Windows Credentials console.
Using an internet proxy server is only possible in Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange that comes as part of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 distribution package. Make sure to read Unsupported SharePoint Lists before restoring Microsoft SharePoint lists. To restore Microsoft SharePoint sites, do the following:
Launch the Restore wizard.
Specify credentials.
Log in to Office 365 (for data restore from backups created in Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365).
Specify the target site.
Specify restore options. This final step of selecting your SharePoint Restore options is important. The restore options are as follows:
Changed items. Allows you to recover data that has been modified in your production environment.
Missing items. Allows you to recover items that have been deleted in your production environment.
Restore permissions. Allows you to recover permissions. If not selected, permissions will be inherited from the parent site.
Restore list views. Allows you to recover your list views.
Restore subsites. Allows you to recover subsites. If not selected, sites that are being restored will contain only document libraries and lists.
History restore options. Allows you to select a version:
Overwrite. To overwrite data in the production environment by recovering only the latest version of the document from the backup.
Merge. To merge an existing version of the document with that of a backup version.
If not selected, all the versions in the production environment will be replaced with the corresponding data from the backup file.
