The cost of free education.
-------------------------
I don't think this is a majority opinion. But a sizable minority believes that education should be free.
Here is why that's messed up:
1. If you derive value from a product or service, sharing some of the derived value with distributors and creators is the definition of fairness.
2. Many of us respect teachers, doctors, and farmers. But when it comes to paying them, we are stingy as f*.
"Shouldn't these services be free?"
No, they shouldn't. Your entitled position in life makes you believe you deserve everything free despite the cost of creation.
3. They believe education is a "noble" profession and that money will corrupt it.
Firstly, what qualifies as noble? Adding value to the world while paying your share of taxes to the government sounds pretty noble to me.
So if you are making a positive impact through your work, you are a noble person. Would you like to work for free? I guess not.
-------------------------
Please don't put teachers on a pedestal of spikes. Like them, respect them, but also, if you can...
Pay them.
