The State of Tennessee has adopted a standard framework for Data Governance. This Data Governance process can be broken down into eight elements or phases, each with its own goals and deliverables.

Organization
Architecture
Definitions and Standards
Policies
Procedures
Data Admin / Security / Controls
Metrics and Reporting
Audits

This will come together as a lightweight methodology to collect what is needed to be known about critical or key data so it can be managed as an asset. The framework consists of a Data Governance Guidebook and Playbook that reference templates, processes, responsibility charts, task examples, and sample deliverables. This presentation provides an overview and training on the Eight Elements of Data Governance Framework. This presentation also includes a brief use case on the implementation of this process in the Department of Human Services in the State of Tennessee.
