In this short video we will answer a standardized math test question where we are asked to rewrite a value in scientific notation to standard form. We will learn that scientific notation is a value write with a factor and a power of ten. The exponent of the power of ten informs you if you move the decimal point to the right or to the left. If the exponent is greater than zero, you move the decimal point to the right. If the exponent is less than one, you move the exponent to the left. We will add zeros and move the decimal point to rewrite in standard form. An exemplar solution is modeled.

Perform operations with numbers expressed in scientific notation, including problems where both decimal and scientific notation are used. Use scientific notation and choose units of appropriate size for measurements of very large or very small quantities (e.g., use millimeters per year for seafloor spreading). Interpret scientific notation that has been generated by technology.
