South Korean lawmakers impeach acting president
On Friday, lawmakers from South Korea's governing party vehemently protested a vote to impeach the country's acting president President Han Duck-soo. The vote was held and the motion to impeach Han passed 192-0.
Han's impeachment further deepens the country's political crisis set off by President Yoon Suk Yeol's stunning imposition of martial law and ensuing impeachment.
The impeachments of the country's top two officials worsen its political turmoil, deepen its economic uncertainty and hurt its international image.
