A Romanian Pavel Mircea tried to sue God in 2005, claiming that the Almighty did not "keep" the promise he made to him at baptism.
"He was supposed to protect me from all evil, but instead he gave me to Satan, who urged me to kill," he said.
Mircea, aged 40, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison, added that God "enjoyed" his prayers and offerings without giving him anything in return.
He asked to be reimbursed for all the money he spent for religious purposes, but his case was rejected on the grounds that God is not a person in the eyes of the law and that he does not have an address where he could receive a court summons.
