German officials say terrorist motive for Solingen festival attack cannot be ruled out
A 15-year-old has been arrested by German police in connection with a knife rampage that left three people dead and five seriously wounded in the western city of Solingen late on Friday.
Police said the teenager was suspected of knowing about the planned attack and not alerting the authorities. However, the force said the youth was not the assailant.
Investigators are not ruling out a motive of terrorism since the attacker appears to be unknown to all victims, a German public prosecutor told a press conference in Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, on Saturday afternoon.
