Synchronous programming
In a synchronous programming model, things happen one at a time.
Each operation has to wait for the previous one to be completed, before it can be executed.
Asynchronous programming
An asynchronous model allows multiple things to happen at the same time. Operations can be executed WHILE the query is being processed.
