How to Open Recent Documents in Word

Microsoft Word contains a Recent Documents list that enables you to quickly find and open documents that were recently closed. This feature saves you the trouble of navigating to the document each time you want to access the Word file. By default, Word lists up to 25 recent documents, but you can change that value to list up to 50 documents. If this option is changed to zero, then the Recent Documents feature is disabled.

Your Recent Documents list is found under the File menu located in the top menu of Word. Click Open in the left bar that appears. Select Recent, and to the right, you will see a list of your recent documents. Simply click the document you want to open it. If you haven't worked with any documents yet, this area will be empty.
