This spring, our MEP Damian Boeselager, together with other MEPs, introduced a proposal on how the electoral law for the European elections could be revised. This reform includes one thing in particular, which is also a requirement of the Conference on the Future of Europe: Transnational lists 📋
What do transnational lists mean?🧐
If there were transnational lists in European elections, citizens could not only elect people from national parties to Brussels but also vote for European parties with a second vote
What would be the added value of transnational lists?🤩
Transnational lists would take us one step further towards genuine European democracy. People could, for example, vote for a conservative Europe or a social Europe with their second vote. This would give them more options than just deciding whether to vote for or against the EU with their first vote.
Let's try more democracy together!
